JOB SUMMARY:
Field Service Engineer is a high-level technical position that requires advanced mechanical and electrical skills, along with great customer service skills. Service work may include, but is not limited to performing routine maintenance, repairs, modification, machine setup or formal and informal training of customer personnel, and machine audits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Demonstrate the “6+1 ways” customer service model at all times.
2. Be expected to be in communication with Douglas supervisory personnel daily, Monday through Friday and when appropriate on Saturday and Sunday.
3. Able and willing to travel a minimum 75% of the time to perform tasks at customer sites.
4. Troubleshoot packaging machines and resolve a high percentage of mechanical, electrical, and programming issues unassisted.
5. Communicate effectively with field service advisors to resolve technical issues.
6. Maintain a positive, professional relationship with customer personnel.
7. Document pertinent technical and customer information to facilitate an ongoing business relationship.
8. Produce extremely accurate, complete and timely customer technical reports that can be submitted to customers with confidence.
9. Take initiative to learn new components and design principles as they are introduced.
10. Proactively identifies product/service sales opportunities at customer sites that will enhance customer’s packaging processes.
11. Assist with the training of new technicians.
12. Train customer personnel in formal (class room) and informal (hands on) settings.
13. Perform machine audits.
14. Recommend machine design changes and enhancements.
15. Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
16. Assist with related tasks and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Must have great customer service skills.
• Must possess great documentation skills with the ability to produce extremely accurate, complete and timely customer technical reports that can be submitted to customers with confidence.
• Must have advanced mechanical and electrical background in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the packaging manufacturing industry.
• Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve machine software issues online with a laptop computer without assistance.
• Must be able to read, follow, and document changes to blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical drawings.
• Must be proficient in the use of a laptop computer and related software.
• Must be able to use a variety of machine and hand tools.
• Must be able and willing to travel a minimum 75% of the time.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Requires a college or B.S. degree in packaging machine automation or related technical field such as Fluid Power, Aeronautics Maintenance, or Industrial Maintenance Engineering or the equivalent education in a related field.
• 10+ years demonstrated work experience in the packaging manufacturing industry or related technical field is a plus.
• Good command of English in reading、writing and speaking.
• Project management skills is a plus.
• Weigher experience is a plus.
